In the fertile plains of Markham, John Gaif has spent his life tending the land, watching his people struggle with subsistence farming—just enough to survive, but never enough to thrive. When he realizes that his district's farmers could turn their hard work into profitable ventures, he dreams of a bold transformation: moving his community from small-scale survival farming to sustainable commercial agriculture.

THE RAIN

The Rain is a 2D hand-drawn film that features a narrated poem written by myself, Kā'eo Luke. This film reflects on what it means to be alive day to day. The human connection to nature through the wisdom of the birds is explored and showcased through unique species. The spoken word can be interpreted differently between viewers and asks the question, "what does it truly mean to live and love to each, individual mind?"

WOVEN

‘Woven’ tells the heartfelt journey of two Papua New Guinean friends Aunty Elvie and Aunty Betty. Whilst touching on the traditional practices of weaving, it looks at the importance of cultural identity and explores the cultural disparity that migrant generations may experience when growing up in two different worlds. This is the story of lifelong friends and their hope for future generations.

THE SAND BANK

Alone on a strip of sand in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, three young girls play happily on the beach surrounded by crystal clear waters.

As the high tide approaches, their whole world would be undone by the arrival of a single plastic bottle.

Inspired by the haunting true story of Igbo Landing, where enslaved Africans chose the ocean over captivity. African Freediver Tatiana Mendes draws parallels between her connection to this story and her own.
