Our Story

The Pacific Ocean Short Film Festival was founded with a mission to provide a platform for filmmakers from the Pacific Islands to share their unique perspectives with the world. Recognizing the need for greater representation and visibility of Pacific stories in the film industry, we created this festival to spotlight short films that reflect the beauty, challenges, and triumphs of Pacific life.

Our journey began with a passion for cinema and a commitment to cultural exchange. We wanted to create a space where emerging and established filmmakers could come together, showcase their work, and engage with audiences who appreciate the art of short filmmaking. From traditional narratives to innovative experiments, our festival celebrates the diversity of storytelling that thrives in the Pacific.

Each year, POSFF brings together a dynamic program of short films exploring heritage, identity, environment, and contemporary Pacific life.

By focusing on short films, we aim to highlight the concise, powerful, and impactful nature of this format, offering filmmakers the opportunity to make a big impact with a small canvas.

Join us in celebrating the creativity and talent of Pacific filmmakers. Whether you're a filmmaker, an audience member, or a supporter, we invite you to be part of our story and help us shine a spotlight on the Pacific's unique cinematic voice.
